Mekayla, Buckeye Union High School Senior Portraits | Goodyear, AZ Senior Photographer

Oh, this session! It is a highlight from this spring. All I can do is smile when I think about this day. Not only did the session and photos go amazing but just getting to spend time with Mekayla and her mom and sisters was such an honor and blessing!

Mekayla's mom contacted a photographer friend of mine who didn't have any dates left for spring. I checked my calendar and had one more. I know it my heart it was specifically saved for them. Her mom told me she was so excited to have two seniors graduating so wanted to see if there was any way we could do their session together. After hearing their story, there was no hesitation in getting the planning started.

Mekayla is an amazing athlete who played both basketball and tennis for Buckeye Union High School. She is laid back, responsible and has something about her that just makes you feel calm and relaxed when around her. And holy smokes, she has the most killer eyes. I call them splash eyes - they have a splash of turquoise, green, caramel, orange and they just sparkle in the light! Let's just say the camera LOOOOOOOVES (in a singing tone, of course) her!

The day started with make up with my favorite make up artist (and also senior) then we drove out to the river! The Cottonwoods were completely full and green. The water was a perfect temperature to play in. And we didn't see any snakes! The girls live out in the desert so they're used to them but this city girl is not! I may have freaked out a few times thinking I saw one but all was clear.

After the river, we went to a new location I had only scouted one time. It was a big wide open sandpit! The sun was just beginning to set creating for the most perfect light.

Just before sunset, we drove to the top of the hill to hit that just after sunset Arizona sky in the desert. The cotton candy sky was a perfect backdrop to wrap up the session.

Mekayla, thank you so much for choosing me to be your senior photographer! I had so much fun. It was so nice getting to know you. Good luck in college!!!!!
