Taylor + Andrew = Married! | Anthem, Phoenix West Valley Wedding Photographer

I got my first taste of weddings {in Cancun!} in October and have decided that if the opportunity arises, I’d like to do some smaller-scale weddings to see if it’s for me. This was my second wedding up in Anthem! The bride’s mom found me on Facebook after I posted some free desks on a swap page (of all places!). We started talking and it just felt like the right fit to be the one to photograph her baby girl’s backyard wedding.

On my way up to the location, it was pouring. My thought was, “Really? My second wedding and we’re going to have rain again?” I arrived and the skies were cloudy but it was not raining….until it was time for the bride to walk down the aisle. Everyone had such a great attitude and kept saying how it was good luck to have rain on your wedding day. And if it’s going to rain, this type was perfect – just a constant light sprinkle. As soon as the ceremony ended, the rain stopped. Of course. I think it just proves that it is a good sign to have rain. I mean, it only did it for the duration of the ceremony.

After everyone ate, we walked across the street to do some bridal portraits in a wash. It was just perfect out. We had a bit of fun then ran back for some cake and dancing.

Thank you, Taylor and Andrew for letting me be part of such a special day. You are two wonderful parents to the cutest little boy. May your marriage be as blessed as your wedding was. Lots of love,

Anna, High School Senior | Goodyear, Arizona Senior Photographer

Anna and I met when she was twelve. Her mother and I worked together at Habitat for Humanity.  I remember her smile, you know that kind, that just lights up the room, her maturity and total joy with life. As you can imagine, when her mom emailed me to get a date for her senior photos, I was beyond excited. I couldn’t wait to see what a beautiful young women Anna had become and to catch up. I sure loooove catching up!

Being a photographer in the desert has its limitations. We have sand, cacti, more sand, tan, some pretty mountains and more sand. I do love finding beauty in the abrasive desert but also long for grass and trees so I’m always on the lookout for new locations. Our session was on a Sunday so after church, I had my husband go scouting with me to a spot I heard about a year ago. I walked around a little and knew it had potential. The real exploring happened with Anna and her mom showed up.
Beaming with excitement, I couldn’t control myself when we found grass and some gorgeous evergreens. Yep, in the desert! Anna’s mom asked how I found this place. I exclaimed, “I’m finding it with you now!!!” That’s the best kind of scouting. It’s fresh, fun and gets me out of any creative funk.

Anna was just adorable. It wasn’t difficult getting her to laugh because she giggled most of the session. I love capturing motion and she was down for anything . In just one session, I can’t believe how many different looks we got – water, grass, lake/dock and desert. It was a perfect night with the most gorgeous golden light. This is why I LOVE Arizona in the winter. And Anna totally rocked the beanie and red sweater.

Thank you, Anna, for being up for an adventure. It was an absolute blast getting to catch up and see you and your mom again. Lots of love,
