Beau, four years old | Surprise, AZ Child Photography

Can't believe I met this family just a year ago - I feel like I've known them for years! I met Beau for his third birthday and since then have photographed his pregnant mommy, newborn brother and their family for Christmas. I've also gotten to become friends and hang out without the camera which I've enjoyed even more.

For Beau's fourth birthday, his mommy just wanted to get a few pictures to capture him at FOUR! Can't believe he's four as I'm sure she can't either. They just came to my house where I got to be a racecar driver, dragon slayer and I think some kind of super hero. Anything for a great photo, right?!

Happy Birthday, Beau!

His mom was debating on what shirt to dress him in. This one was perfect! Seriously, look how cute he is and how blue his eyes look!

Don't forget to "like" my page on Facebook. Thank you for the love! www.facebook.com/artfamilyphotography

i heart faces - play

The contest theme for I Heart Faces this week is "Play." Perfect for a session I'm currently working on. These two brothers had a ton of fun PLAYing super hero. The little one did a good job keeping up, too!

Eddie, one day old | Phoenix, AZ Newborn Photographer

When I first heard from this mama-to-be, she was inquiring about newborn and hospital photos. I got a little excited when she mentioned hospital. We weren't sure it if would work based on schedules, but he came in perfect timing!

I think my absolute favorite time to photograph a family is in the hospital after having a baby. I can just be a fly on the wall (or a crazy lady with a huge camera trying to squeeze around the furniture in the small hospital rooms) and not only snap away, but witness such an incredible love. A connection between a husband and wife and the new relationship between a brand new life and his parents.

Eddie was incredibly sweet and simply gorgeous. I never got to see his eyes because like a baby, he slept the entire time I was there. Now, if he would do that every night at home!

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Eddie. April 12, 2013, 7lbs 13oz and 23" long. Born in Phoenix, AZ!

Starner Family | Buckeye, AZ Family Photographer

I met this wonderful family through swim lessons last summer. They happen to be from Pennsylvania like me and my husband. It has been so wonderful getting to know them and watching my son and Miss A's relationship change as they get older. I was so excited to take pictures of this family especially since they hadn't had family pictures since Miss A was just a baby.

Typically my family sessions are because of a child's birthday or for a specific reason. In that case, I seem to focus just on that child. But for this family session it was all about their relationship with each other. We got to go to multiple locations which I rarely get to do. We started at their home since they live down the street from me, then drove up to Verrado to some gorgeous grass and a fountain, then moved to a golf club then headed to the desert and ended near the mountains. The sun had disappeared at our last spot but we were still able to finish with Miss A enjoying the wild flowers.

I have been afraid of the desert because of the bright sun and reflective ground, but after this session, can't wait to head back! My absolute favorite pictures are of little Miss A dancing in the desert. Her mom had told me before the session that she was learning some new songs at music class which we were able to sing when she was starting to not want to take photos. I love capturing personalities and I just love this little girl!

Another thing I was told before the session was how Miss A loves Austin Moon. Apparently, he's a character on a Disney tween show that she has just fallen in love with. Instead of using a reflector, I had a white foam board with me that I put Austin's face on. It worked like a charm! I cannot believe the smiles we got out of her for Austin! When we were packing up, Miss A ran over to me and asked, "Can I please see Austin one more time?" I snapped a quick picture of her and her crush. CUTENESS!!

Thank you so much, Starner Family, for letting me capture your family. And thank you for being such great friends to our family. I can't wait to watch your family grow!

Miss Diamond, Stunning Valley Vista High School Senior | Surprise, Arizona Senior Photographer

Diamond contacted me after I did Chelsea's pictures wanting to squeeze some photos in before her dance recital and before she GRADUATES! I was so thankful for the referral but was booked. I told Diamond I could do pictures on a particular morning - super early - in Surprise.

I found out she was a dancer so for some reason wanted to go to a parking garage. Yes, a parking garage. I hadn't shot in one but thought the light would be great (which it was!). She was totally up for it all and didn't even think it was a crazy idea! Woo hoo!

This session was full of random stops - a parking garage, a random field next to a CVS Pharmacy, in my neighbor's yard because he hadn't mowed the grass in a few weeks, and other spots in my neighborhood. We got a lot accomplished before my next session.

Diamond has the most beautiful eyes. I'm usually drawn to blue eyes but my camera and I were loving her hazel, green, carmel, probably some other colors eyes. She had the serious look down and was able to pull off so many different looks.

Congratulations, Diamond! You're almost finished with high school! Good luck! Enjoy every moment!!
