Baby Lyla, 6 days new | Surprise, AZ Newborn Photography

I couldn't wait to meet this little gal and to find out what her name was. She arrived on her due date and was named Lyla Dawn Kurzen. What a beautiful name for such a beautiful baby.

I love witnessing first time parents with their brand new bundle of joy. It's amazing how someone's life is truly changed and flipped upside down when you welcome a baby into the world. You can read all the books in the world, but figuring out what the baby likes and doesn't like all comes with practice and time. Lyla's dad had all the holds down and already knew what Lyla liked and didn't like. And Lyla's gorgeous mommy was just a natural. The love that surrounded this little girl was just amazing.

For most of the session, Lyla was nice and sleepy but she didn't love when I would lift my hands off of her. With great help from her parents we were able to capture this little beauty in many different ways including the "caught by a fisherman" pose or whatever her dad kept calling the cheesecloth poses. I loved it! I actually think he had a name for every pose which I should've written down because they were pretty clever.

Lyla's dad is in the Air Force which I am so incredibly thankful for his service and was excited when they wanted to do a military set up. I think this is probably one of my favorites I've done because of what it represents and also just because of how cute Lyla looked covered in her daddy's uniform wearing a cute little red bow. It just made this session extra special.

Thank you, Kurzen family, for letting me spend so much time with your brand new little girl. She is just darling and will bring the two of you so much joy.

McDonald Family | Scottsdale, AZ Family and Twin Photographer

This family is amazing but even more this mom of three is just quadruply amazing. Yes, quadruply is a word! She seriously made having a Kindergartener and two six month olds look easy. Even when the girls were hungry and cold and just crying because the other sister was crying, she remained calm. She was even a little under the weather which I would've never known if her eyes weren't watering.  AND (!) she just had two babies six months ago and just looked...I know I already used this word, but simply amazing.

I am so thankful to have had the chance to spend time with the McDonalds. My sister in law is a close friend of Erin's and gifted this session for her when she was pregnant with the girls. I am not going to lie, I was a little nervous, but other than the cold, it couldn't have been better. The girls weren't super smiley as I'm told Reese has to be in a "mood" and Camryn gave me a few big smiles but it didn't even matter because they are just too darn cute. I even made a new friend with their big brother Connor. He was my buddy. Towards the end we even got to play a little tag while the girls had their bottle. Playing always makes a session great.

I can't leave this post without mentioning the relationship between Connor and his dad. I got so many pictures of this duo. I had no problem capturing candid laughs between these two! I'm not even sure what they were talking about half of the time but both Connor and David would just crack up. I really didn't need to understand them because their expressions explained it all. Connor had no problem acting cool with his dad, either.

Thank you so much, McDonald family for letting me spend some time with you. You have the most beautiful children and family. The girls are just precious with their sweet little faces and Connor is such a sweet little boy. I remember meeting him when he was just a toddler and wow, what a little man he is becoming! Enjoy your previews!

De Mel Family | Phoenix, AZ Baby Photographer

I took this family's pictures a while ago for Christmas. I waited to post to ensure the pictures made it to their family in Sri Lanka. Sharon informed me a while ago that the pictures made it. Yay!

I absolutely loved this location for the session. The De Mel's home in Phoenix. It is in such a gorgeous neighborhood overlooking the Valley. As I left, I was in awe of how gorgeous the views of the city were with the beautiful Arizona sunset. I almost turned around to get a few more, but I think the baby was about done. He did amazing though! What a happy five month old. I would just look at him and he would give me the biggest smiles. He also had the best facial expressions. My all time favorite baby picture is of little Elijah pointing at me with the cutest look on his face. Melts me...and makes me laugh.

I can't wait to see this beautiful family again this spring. I bet Elijah has already changed so much. It'll be an entirely different kind of session which excites me.Merry Christmas! Oh, right, it's January, but still Merry (belated) Christmas!

Olivia, 12 days new | Peoria, AZ Newborn Photographer

Sweet Olivia, the first newborn I had that slept the entire three hours I was at her house. Heaven! She was born on her daddy's birthday and just in time for Christmas. What an amazing birthday and Christmas gift for these two sweet parents.

It was too cold to go outside, but we got nice and cozy in their front room and Olivia's cute purple and white nursery. Oh ya, did I mention they happened to move into their brand new house right before Olivia made her early arrival? I couldn't believe how unpacked and beautiful their home was.

Since Olivia was so sleepy, it gave me an opportunity to try some new poses especially with the parents. She was so tiny and just perfect lying next to her daddy and in her parents' arms. Her features are just so pretty and her skin was absolutely gorgeous. What joy she will bring this year.

Congratulations, Shanin and George! Can't wait to watch Olivia grow this year!

Ellason, 9 months and Adeline, 4 years old! | Buckeye, Arizona Family Photographer

Nine months! Can't believe another three months as passed since I got to spend time photographing little Ella. She was just full of smiles. It didn't matter where we were, she would just look up at her mommy and smile. I don't think she fussed at all the entire session even with an outfit change!

Her older sister just recently had her fourth birthday. It's crazy to think I've known her since she was 13 months old. It has been so much fun watching her grow and come out of her shell. She actually talks to me now when we do a session! She wasn't as smiley this time, but it didn't matter because my camera just loves her. Towards the end, she started to have a little fun in some leaves (yes, we do have fall like colors and leaves just a little later than most of the country). It was fun for me too as we threw leaves back and forth at each other.

I have done pictures in Verrado a few times but never up by the Raven. I absolutely fell in love with the fun little park, the tree lined street and a fun wooden fence line that ran up to the mountains. The light was just perfect as were these cute sisters. Oh, and we also hit up someone's house (after getting permission, of course) along the way.

I never want to rush a child growing up, but I just can't wait to take pictures of little Ella again in just three short months for her first birthday! Happy nine months to miss Ella and happy FOUR years to miss Adeline!
